Professional Pathways

Since September 2025, I have been working as an Education Officer at the Malta Institute of Accountants, supporting the development and implementation of the Institute’s Education and Attractiveness Strategy. My work involves coordinating stakeholder input, monitoring progress against agreed actions and milestones, and delivering student‑engagement initiatives and career‑focused events across schools and universities.

Key Responsibilities and Achievements

  • Developed the Institute’s Education and Attractiveness Strategy for the Accountancy Profession, translating strategic objectives into a structured action plan, implementation schedule, budget and dedicated Gantt chart. Coordinated input from internal teams, working groups, educational institutions and external stakeholders to ensure that planned initiatives reflected strategic priorities and stakeholder needs.

  • Designed and implemented a monitoring plan for specific activities, tracking progress against agreed actions, timelines, budgets and milestones. Identified delays, risks and emerging opportunities and updated the implementation plan accordingly. Refined the delivery plan to address risks and opportunities, strengthen performance monitoring and support the strategy’s long-term implementation.

  • Worked closely with the Marketing Department to plan campaigns, social media content, video interviews and promotional activities, including the local implementation of IFAC’s Everything Needs Accounting campaign. Collaborated with the Technical Department and management to review educational and professional content, assess proposed initiatives, establish priorities and prepare updates for management and Council. Coordinated discussions with MIA working groups, particularly the Young Members Group and the Attractiveness and Talent Group, including the development of their pillar-based task forces. Coordinated and supported the task forces in planning and developing initiatives for student and university outreach, financial literacy, young-professional engagement, professional identity, digital communications and the promotion of careers in accountancy.

  • Consolidated proposals, allocated responsibilities, tracked progress against agreed milestones and updated the strategy, timelines and action plan accordingly.

     Student Outreach and Career Engagement

  • Coordinated educational outreach and student-engagement initiatives promoting accountancy as a career among secondary, post-secondary and university students.

  • Designed, coordinated and delivered the 2025/26 interactive presentation for the Year 8 Information Session careers programme in support of the #AccountsForYou campaign.

  • Moderated career panels on Shaping the Future of Business, supporting school outreach initiatives and promoting the role of financial managers at Junior College on 14 January 2026 and Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School on 11 February 2026. Participated in SkillScape 2025.

     Event and Project Coordination

  • Planned and coordinated student-engagement initiatives in collaboration with the University of Malta, including the Passion & Profession – Your Path for Life! event for third-year university students and an engagement event for first-year university students.

  • Identified, approached and coordinated speakers, panellists, moderators, sponsors and external contributors for initiatives and events organised by the Institute, including events for accounting and guidance teachers, the I Choose Fair, careers fairs, expos and careers talks. Coordinated preparatory meetings, invitations, minutes, logistics, calendar arrangements and post-event follow-up.
